Who remembers their first time at New York Fashion Week? The first show I was invited to attend was at the Metropolitan Pavilion in September 2010. Boy Meets Girl, Caravan and Bobi were the three collections showcased that morning. The show opened up with a performance of “Animal” by Neon Trees, to which the audience sang along enthusiastically. From the moment the first look hit the runway, the energy in the room was amazing. After the show, I was mistaken for a celebrity by Bobi designer Kara Lusardi, and was told by Caravan‘s Claudine DeSola that I had great style. Fashion week is one of the most amazing experiences, and I look forward to it every season! xxSharona

Although Rihanna has proven herself to be multi-talented, apparently we haven’t seen everything she has to offer. After working on two capsule collections for Giorgio Armani, she certainly has fashion on her mind. Rihanna recently announced that she will be designing a clothing line for British fashion brand River Island, but that’s not all! She is Stella McCartney‘s newest muse, and there are rumors of a collaboration between them in the works. I can’t imagine that anything they create would be less than fabulous.

It’s very similar to his first collection, and will include tailored jackets, fabulous heels and lots of leather items. At yesterday’s NYC premiere of Oogieloves, there was one character from the movie that unexpectedly caught my eye. Dotty Rounder, whose name is self explanatory, has a major crush on polka-dots and all things round. She dresses in them, decorates her house with them, and even paints them on her cheeks. I was inspired by her adoration for a specific trend, and for keeping true to herself. It’s very important to find what you gravitate towards, and rock it with confidence. Everyone has different style and that’s what makes the streets of NYC oh-so-lovely. Big shout-out to Dotty, who will attribute a love for fashion in all the children who see the movie! xxSharona

It’s finally happening! It Girl Alexa Chung is looking into designing her own clothing line in the near future. After designing two successful capsule collections for Madewell, it’s clear that she has what it takes. Alexa undoubtedly has a great eye for fashion and is a style icon to many. She confirmed in an interview with Numero Tokyo that she will be sketching all the designs herself, even though critics may not believe that to be true. Do you think Alexa’s designs will reflect her personal style, or will she go in another route? Stay tuned.

Fashion designer L’Wren Scott has officially pulled out of of September’s New York Fashion Week to buy herself more time to finish the collection. L’Wren’s Spring 2013 collection will debut in Paris instead, but her date is not yet confirmed. It seems she may have been inspired by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s decision to do the same thing two years ago for their Spring collection of The Row.
